Police Log: May 16 – May 23, 2017

May 16

  • Yi Shu of Connecticut was cited for careless driving after the car she was driving rear-ended one on Franklin Boulevard driven by Hetal Patel of Pennsylvania. Patel told police that she had slowed for a cat running across the road when her car was hit.
  • Tara Kanetkar of Somerset was cited for careless driving after she did not stop for a stop sign at Grouser and Van Cleef roads, and her car collided with one driven by Simone Kraemer of Princeton.

May 17

  • A radio/navigation/DVD system valued at $1,000, a cordless drill valued at $275 and its charger, valued at $95, and personal papers were stolen from a car parked on Stirrup Way.
  • Karthikey Ramasubramanian and Sripriya Karthikeyan were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment after they fell off the motorcycle they were riding on Canal Road. Ramasubramanian said he lost control of the motorcycle after he hit a rock in the road.
  • A car driven by James Caratozzolo was turning left from Easton Avenue to Reeve Street when it collided with a car on Easton driven by Waldemar Szpura of Bayonne. Szpura said Caratozzolo’s car pulled in front of his.
  • A car driven on Somerset Street by Christine Southerland of New Brunswick and a U-Haul truck driven by Robert Ruszala of Edison collided while Ruszala was attempting to turn left into a driveway.
  • Allyson Bruce of Bridgewater was cited for driving with a suspended license and Shamyoon Rajmohan of Cliffwood was cited for careless driving and improper passing after cars driven by the two collided on Davidson Avenue. Bruce was making a left turn into a driveway at the time of the accident.
  • Valeriano Bautista-Hernandez of North Brunswick was cited for careless driving and driving without a license after his car sideswiped a car on Easton Avenue driven by Daniel Tetteh of Paterson.  Bautista-Hernandez said he thought he had room while switching lanes.
  • Jennifer Cheek of Somerset was cited for driving while on the suspended list after her car rear-ended one on Elizabeth Avenue, driven by Shrutipen Patel of Middlesex.

May 18

  • Someone entered a home on Mustang Trail, but nothing was reported stolen.
  • Someone walked out of a Route 27 store without paying for $380 worth of Tide Cleaner.
  • Willie Jefferson, 45, of Ridgefield Park was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
  • A laptop computer valued at $800 was stolen from a Home Street home.
  • Spray paint on a slide at Lower Inman Park was discovered by police.
  • Laquesha Cathcart, 27, of New Brunswick was arrested at Castleton Park on an outstanding warrant from New Brunswick.

May 19

  • A 2005 Honda Civic was keyed while it was parked on Baier Avenue.
  • Mauricio Ramos, 20, of Somerset was charged with possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana. He was arrested on Pearl Place.
  • Cindy Rao of East Brunswick was cited for careless driving and failure to maintain her lane after her car crossed lanes on Bennetts Lane, left the road and struck a utility pole.
  • Arpita Patel of North Brunswick had bent over to pick something up in her car when her auto rear-ended a car driven by Dipali Patel  of Somerset that was stopped in traffic. The impact pushed Dipali Patel’s car into one in front of it, driven by Lloyd Reynolds of Basking Ridge.
  • Ronnie Kallini of Somerset was driving down John F. Kennedy Boulevard when, he told police, he swerved to avoid hitting a small animal. His car hit a guardrail on the side of the road.

May 20

  • A wallet containing $100 in cash and personal papers was stolen from an unlocked car parked on Stone Manor Drive.
  • A car driven by Nana Duoduwa of Hillsborough was stopped in traffic on Route 27 when it was rear-ended by a car driven by Lisa Bergman of Kendall Park.

May 21

  • A purse and wallet, valued at $180, was stolen from an Amwell Road location.
  • A black and pink wallet valued at $100, $10 in cash and personal papers were stolen from a car parked at Retro Fitness on Route 27.
  • Edianys Lima-Enriquez of Bedminster was cited for careless driving, and driving while using a cell phone after her car rear-ended one on South Middlebush Road by Jacquelin Harris of Somerset. Police said Lima-Enriquez was talking on her cell phone at the time.

May 22

  • An iPhone 6 valued at $400 was stolen from a car parked on Franklin Square Drive.
  • Juan Reyes of East Brunswick was cited for careless driving after his car rear-ended one on Somerset Street driven by Christina Smith of Somerset.

May 23

  • A 2011 Dodge Ram was stolen from a Juniper Court parking lot.
  • More than $3,400 in jewelry and cash was stolen from a Heller Park Lane home. Taken was a Pandora bracelet valued at $2,000, a chocolate diamond ring valued at $900, a silver charm bracelet valued at $500 and $50 in cash.
