A car driven by Russell Potts Jr. of Hillsborough was stopped in the left-turn lane on John F. Kennedy Boulevard at Easton Avenue when it was struck in the rear by a car driven by Lynnea Wesley-Dickson of Pine Island, NY. Wesley-Dickson said she could not stop in time because of the icy road.

A car driven by Stewart Davis of Somerset was stopped at JFK Boulevard and Easton Avenue when it was struck in the rear by one driven by Mariam Khatib of North Brunswick. Khatib said she tried to stop as she descended the hill near Easton Avenue but could not.

David Brown of Somerset told police he was driving about 20 mph down JFK Boulevard when his car hit a patch of ice and slid to the right, ending up in a snow bank.

Mario Sleiman of North Brunswick was cited for careless driving after a car he was driving was involved in an accident on School House Road with one driven by Mary Zrinko, also of North Brunswick. Zrinko said she was preparing to turn right into Cottontail Lane when Sleiman’s car pulled out from a driveway in front of hers and the two collided. Zrinko said he thought Sleiman was turning into the driveway he was exiting.

Cars driven by Kacy Dubey of Menominee, MI and Sandra Shaver of New Brunswick collided on Pierce Street as Dubey attempted to pull out of a driveway, police said. Dubey said her view was obstructed by a snow bank, but she thought she had enough time to make her turn.

Kayla Humbert of Howell was driving down Blackwells Mills Road when her car hit a patch of ice and slid into a snow bank.

Feb. 15, 2014

About $60 in loose change was stolen from a car on Minetta Road, police said. The money was stored in a bag in the car’s trunk.

A car driven on Route 518 by Amy Pandya of Monroe hit a patch of ice, slid across the road and struck a snow bank, police said.

§

A car owned by Howard Anderson of Somerset was struck while it was parked on Clover Hills Road. The other driver fled the scene.

§

A car driven by Faizel Mohammed of Somerset was stopped at the traffic light at DeMott Lane and Easton Avenue when it was struck in the rear by a car driven by Lisandra Vicioso, also of Somerset.Vicioso said she could not stop in time because of the slush on the road.

Vivian Rivera of Somerset told police that she was trying to stop her car at the intersection of DeMott Land and New Brunswick Road when her car started to slide in the snow. When it did stop, she said, it was struck from the rear by a car driven by Arthur Tooles, also of Somerset. Tooles said he saw the car ahead of his slide and tried to stop, but slid in the snow.

Cars driven by Tina Adriaanse of North Plainfield and Stephen Ondimu of Jersey City collided at Baier Avenue and Roberts Road, after Ondimu’s car made a right turn onto Baier and slid into Adriaanse’s.

Feb. 16, 2014

A report of gunshots on Hamilton Street was actually a car backfiring as it was being backed into a garage, police said.

§

Ramses Torres of Staten Island, NY was cited for careless driving after the car he was driving on Weston Canal Road slid off the road and hit a traffic light control box. Torres said he was trying to turn onto Schoolhouse Road when he lost control of his car.
