Police Log: Dec. 15, 2013

Police shieldThomas Tien of Manville told police that he was driving down Weston Canal Road when his car hit an icy patch, causing it to cross lanes and hit a guardrail. Police said the road was slushy.

Cars driven by Jeanette Nunez of Franklin Park and Eduardo Fernandez-Pilart of Somerset collided at Ambrose Street and Pearl Place. Nunez said Fernandez-Pilart’s car sped up as she was trying to turn left from Pearl to Ambrose. Fernandez-Pilart told police that Nunez did not stop before making her turn. Police said Nunez did not yield the right-of-way.

An employee of PMI Brands, Pierce Street, was taken to St. Peter’s University Medical Center after being sprayed with a heated mixture of gelatin, sugar, corn syrup and water. Police said the employee had visible burns and skin peel  on his face and chest. A supervisor told police the employee may have made an error while operating the machine.
