Nov. 10

A Bobcat mini digger valued at $17,000 was stolen from Groundscare Landscaping of Somerville while it was parked on Pierce Street.

§

A 2002 Kawasaki KX500 dirt bike, valued at $3,000, was stolen from a Marigold Lane garage.

§

Mbalu Mansaray of Somerset was cited for careless driving after her car collided with one on Somerset Street driven by Julian Sheppard of Raritan. Mansaray was attempting to turn into a driveway at the time. Sheppard was cited for not having proof of insurance.

§

Cars driven by Kevin Cermeno of Dunellen and Sonya Irvin-Satterwhit of Somerset collided at Somerset Street and Franklin Boulevard. Irvin-Satterwhit was turning left onto Franklin Boulevard at the time.

§

Chunmong Jan  of Somerset was cited for improper passing after his car passed on the right a car turning right from Amwell Road to South Middlebush Road, and driven by Scott  Thomas of Cliffwood Beach.

Nov. 11

Kirk Henning of East Brunswick was cited for careless driving after his car collided with one driven by Dilip Mitra of Somerset. Henning was making a left from Girard Avenue when his car hit Mitra’s.

§

Jazmin Lopez-Garcia of Albuquerque, NM was cited for careless driving after her car rear-ended one on Somerset Street driven by Pinki Kalola of Somerset.

Nov. 12

Martia Harris, 34, of South River was charged with driving while intoxicated after a motor vehicle stop at Dewald Avenue and Hamilton Street. Harris was also cited for driving while on the suspended list, reckless driving, careless driving and failure to exhibit driving credentials.

§

Ivan Johnson, 44, of Somerset was charged with possession of marijuana, under 50 grams, after a motor vehicle stop on Matilda Avenue.

§

Edwin Francisco Oliva, 24, of New Brunswick was arrested on several charges after he led police on a short foot chase near Hamilton Street and Highland Avenue. Officers Richard Livingston and William Poling were patrolling in their vehicle in that area when, Livingston reported, they saw an Hispanic man walking down Hamilton carrying a license plate. Th officers’ report said they stepped out with him on the corner of Highland and Hamilton, but no further details of the incident were released.

Oliva was charged with possession of marijuana, receiving stolen property, obstructing the administration of law and resisting arrest. He was taken to Somerset County Jail in lieu of $1,500 bail.

A woman showed up at police headquarters to report that someone had stolen her gold leather shoes while she was shopping at Stop and Shop on Easton Avenue on Oct. 22. The woman, who was not identified, said she left the shoes in her shopping cart while she went to the bathroom.

§

Carlos Lopez of Somerset was cited for careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving without a license and driving while on the suspended list after his car collided with one on Appleman Road driven by Ashlee Tellez of Hazlet. After the collision, Lopez’s car left the road, hit a house on Appleman and drove around the house’s yard before getting back on the street. Lopez then fled the scene, police said.

Nov. 13

Someone stole $100 in cash and $500 in frozen food from Luigi’s Pizza on Elizabeth Avenue. Police said the frozen food was linguine, pasta shells and shrimp.

Joseph Bergerena of North Brunswick was driving a Suburban Bus on Route 27 when, he said, a car driven ahead of his by Eufrasina Schwartzberg of Somerset suddenly changed from the left to the right lane and stopped short, resulting in a collision. Schwarzberg said she signaled her intention to change lanes, and that her car was hit as she was slowing to make a turn.

Gustavo Rivera-Medina was cited for careless driving after his car collided with one driven by Alexander Sodbinow of Somerset. Rivera-Medina told police that he did not yield the right-of-way to Sodbinow as he was turning from Hillcrest onto Hamilton.

§

Lauri Lei Phillip of Somerset was cited for careless driving after her car hit three parked cars in an Easton Avenue parking lot. Phillip told police that as she was slowly pulling into one spot, her car “slid” and hit a car owned by Sherry Welcome of Somerset. Phillip said she shifted the car in reverse, and once again it “slid” and her brakes did not work, and her car hit parked cars owned by Fusion Auto Finance of Bedford, Texas and Nissan of Sacramento, Ca. Police said the brakes worked fine when the car was driven on the tow truck.

Nov. 14

Limberth Vasquez, 18, of Somerset was charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams after a motor vehicle stop on Hamilton Street.

§

Robert Simon of Edison was cited for careless driving, failure to exhibit insurance card, having no insurance and following too close after being involved in an accident on Easton Avenue that sent him to the hospital. Joanna Graham of Whitehouse Station told police that she was slowing her car down at the John F. Kennedy Boulevard intersection when it was struck in the rear by Simon’s. The impact caused Simon’s car to spin into the concrete barrier and flip on its side. Simon had to be extricated by firefighters.

A DeMott Lane resident was cooking when the pan she was using started smoking, creating a smoke condition that activated all the fire alarms.

§

Nov. 15

Someone threw a rock through the kitchen window of a Reler Avenue home.

§

A woman returning home from a shopping trip at Stop and Shop on Route 27 realized that her purse was missing, police said. Inside the purse was an iPhone, valued at $200, credit cards and personal papers.

§

A dumpster on Reler Lane caught fire. Police said it did not appear to be suspicious.

§

Nov. 16

A woman was driving down Westminster Road when someone threw something at her car’s windshield, cracking it. The damage was valued at $300.

§

Bhavesh Patel of Monmouth Junction was cited for not having his insurance card after his car rear-ended one driven on Route 27 by Niki Ivey of Princeton. Ivey said she looked in her rear-view mirror and saw Patel looking down as his car approached hers.

Nov. 17

Someone stole $2,260 worth of tools from a Habitat for Humanity storage shed on Churchill Avenue. Stolen was a generic generator, valued at $650; a Troy generator valued at $400; a Ryobi multi-tool set kit, valued at $130; eight Ryobi 18v batteries, valued at $400; two Bostitch nail guns, valued at $200 each; a Milwakee work radio, valued at $100; two DeWald circular saws value at $180 each and a Ryobi circular saw, valued at $180.

§

Two rings – a 20k sapphire ring valued at $2,000 and a ruby ring value dat $1,000 – were stolen from a DeMott Lane resident.

§

A Timex wrist watch, valued at $30, was stolen from someone’s locker while they were working out at Planet Fitness, Easton Avenue.

§

Jordan Ali, 20, of Somerville, was charged with distribution of prescription legend drugs, hindering apprehension and distribution of hypodermic needles. Police said Ali gave a false name when asked.
