Patriots Win Home Opener 3-1 Over York

5-1-15gameupdateBridgewater, NJ – The Somerset Patriots (4-3) defeated the York Revolution (3-5) 3-1 Friday evening from TD Bank Ballpark. 7,577 fans attended the 2015 Home Opener.

 

In the bottom of the first inning right fielder Chris Marrero roped an RBI single to give Somerset an early 1-0 advantage.

 

Right fielder Johan Limonta slugged a home run (1) to even the score at 1-1 in the top of the third inning.

 

The Patriots retook the lead in the bottom of the fifth frame as center fielder Jonny Tucker poked a RBI single through a drawn in infield to make the score 2-1.

 

Marrero hammered a home run (1) in the bottom of the sixth inning to increase the Somerset lead to 3-1.

 

Mickey Storey (1-0) earned the win logging six innings while allowing just one run on two hits. Anthony Lerew (1-1) sustained the loss despite a quality start of six innings and three runs allowed. Jon Hunton notched the save (2) pitching a scoreless ninth inning.
