Patriots And Revolution Split Double Header On Tuesday

Bridgewater, NJ-   The Somerset Patriots (15-15, 57-43) and the York Revolution (19-13, 47-55) split a double header at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday afternoon.

Game 1:

York won the first game of the double header over the Patriots 4-1.

The Revolution took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning on an RBI single by Alonzo Harris.

The Patriots tied up the game in the bottom of the sixth inning on a solo home run by Aharon Eggleston (2).

“It was good to see ‘Eggy’ hit a homer and tie it up,” Somerset Patriots manager Brett Jodie said.  “I thought over the last game or two, he’s hit some balls hard, but at people.  He’s had some line drives and had a couple fall, too.  It was just a matter of time for him.  He’s always been a good line-drive hitter and been able to mix in a few home runs, so that was good to see him have that nice line drive to left field and then the homer to right.”

York regained the lead with three runs in the top of the seventh inning on an RBI single by Carlos Triunfel and a two-run double by Ryan Dent for the 4-1 final.

Steve Janas (3-5) picked up the win, allowing an earned run on five hits in six innings pitched. Ronnie Shaban (3-4) suffered the loss, allowing three earned runs on three hits in an inning of work. Brad Allen earned his 16th save of the season.

Game 2:

Somerset took the second game of the double header over York 10-3.

The Patriots took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a two-run home run by Kyle Roller (16).

Somerset extended the lead with a three-run second inning on a two-run base hit by Alfredo Rodriguez and an RBI double by Justin Trapp to make the score 5-0.

The Patriots scored four more runs in the bottom of the third inning on two run scoring errors and a two-run single by Trapp.

“Whenever I can help the team and help us win, it’s big,” said Trapp, who finished the game 2-for-2 with three RBI. “I love being around these guys and doing whatever it takes to win ballgames.”

Another run came home for Somerset in the fourth inning on an RBI groundout by Adam Donachie for a 10-0 lead.

The Revolution got on the board in the top of the fifth inning on a three-run double by Alexi Casilla to make the score 10-3.

Connor Root (1-2) picked up the win, allowing three earned runs on seven hits in four innings of work. Logan Williamson (5-8) suffered the loss, allowing nine runs (six earned) on eight hits in 2.2 innings pitched.

The 2017 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Wednesday, August 9th with a 7:05 pm game against the York Revolution. The game includes a Post Game Fireworks Show presented by Somerset Health Care Foundation. For tickets, visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
