Patriots Rally Past Revolution 6-5

JULY9thGRAPHICYork, PA – The Somerset Patriots (1-2, 47-25) salvaged the series finale by defeating the York Revolution (2-1, 43-30) 6-5 Wednesday night from Santander Stadium.

 

In the top of the first inning right fielder Luis Montanez clubbed a three run home run (10) to give the Patriots an early 3-0 advantage.

 

Montanez drilled a RBI single in the top of the third inning to increase Somerset’s lead to 4-0.

 

Designated hitter Eric Patterson socked a game tying grand slam (8) in the bottom of the sixth inning to even the score at 4-4.

 

York took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning as right fielder Justin Greene sliced a RBI single.

 

The Patriots evened the contest at 5-5 in the top of the eighth inning when third baseman Brian Barden delivered a RBI single.

 

Somerset grabbed the lead in the top of the ninth inning as third baseman Corey Smith laced a RBI double to make the score 6-5 which would be the final.

 

Mike DeMark (5-1) earned the win in relief. Rommie Lewis (2-1) suffered the loss in relief. Jon Hunton notched his Atlantic League leading 23rd save.

 

The 2014 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford will continue tomorrow night when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Sugar Land Skeeters.
