In Your Opinion: Somerset Mews Chains Keep Residents Safe

By Vidhu Goyal, Somerset.

You recently published this article and it only shows one person’s view, not any views of the residents living on Julie and Deborah Drives. We have been subjected to rash drivers zooming through our complex for over 10 years as they try to avoid the speed bumps of Somerset Mews.

There are two roads providing access to all Somerset Mews residents which are the shortest path for them to come in or out of their complex. Why do they need to come through a complex that is further down from Route 27?

We have had many incidents where the drivers are speeding down the road while our kids are playing out front. I was always afraid of the kids even riding bikes down the road in case a driver recklessly hits them. There was also constant sound of cars revving their engines and adding noise pollution.

Since the chains have been put up, I finally have a sense of peace around the neighborhood. The traffic has cut down by 75 percent and I am comfortable with kids playing on their front lawns. Thanks to the Franklin Township Council for keeping our community safe.

Finally I feel like my tax dollars are actually being used to protect our kids as they play in front of their houses.
