Ocean State Job Lot Sets Grand Opening, Charitable Giving Program

Ocean State Job Lot will celebrate the grand opening of its fifth New Jersey store at 10 a.m. Dec. 1.

The township’s newest store will hold its grand opening celebration at 1o a.m. Dec. 1.

Ocean State Job Lot, which recently held a quiet opening in its store in the Franklin Towne Center at South Middlebush Road and Route 27, is planning several events to mark the grand opening of its fifth store in New Jersey.

A 10 a.m. ribbon-cutting will be followed by a 10:30 a.m. “Discount Dash for Charity,” in which local dignitaries, media celebrities and township residents will compete for gift cards for their favorite charities.

Contestants will have 133 seconds – for each of the 133 stores in the Rhode Island-based discount retailers’ chain – to gather as many pre-selected Job Lot items as they can. The winner will receive a $500 Ocean Sate Job Lot gift card for their charity, and second- and third-place winners will receive $250 Job Lot gift cards for their charities.

The store will also announce charitable donations to local organizations.

Speaking of charities, Ocean State Job Lot on Nov. 29 will begin its “Choose, Give, Get” charity program.

From then through Dec. 5, anyone who donates $50, or makes a donation in increments of $50, to one of eight charitable causes supported by the OSJL Charitable Foundation will receive an Ocean State Job Lot “Crazy Deal” gift card equal to the amount of their donation.

Causes supported by the Foundation are: military and veterans, food insecurity, child welfare, healthcare (fighting cancer/disease), education, animal welfare, performing arts, and homelessness.

“Our usual holiday charitable program, ‘Buy-Give-Get’, resulted in the donation of more than 27,000 winter jackets and 15,000 boots to homeless veterans in need over the last two years,” David Sarlitto, Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation Executive Director,s aid in a press release about the program. “This program was so successful, that we decided to expand our reach to even more worthy causes and allow customers to choose the cause closest to their hearts. The OSJL Charitable Foundation has zero overhead because Ocean State Job Lot covers all foundation expenses – 100% of your donation goes to the cause to which you want it to go!”
