Ernest T. Nilsson, 94, died on November 16, 2013 surrounded by those he loved.   He was born in the Bushwick Section on Blecker Street in Brooklyn N.Y. on September 6, 1919 to his dear parents Ernst and Anna Zittsman Nilsson.

Ernest was a Professional Engineer for Nilsson Engineering in Somerset; served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Technical Sergeant and earned a Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, a European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four campaign stars, and American Defense Service Ribbon; and was a communicant of St. Matthias Church in Somerset.  He was a loving father, a dear brother, and a wonderful grandfather, who was kind, caring, generous, and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Ernest is survived by his loving children, Eric (Sandra) Nilsson of North Carolina, Lisa (Mark) Traub of Pound Ridge NY, and Nancy (Robert) Lacorte of Somerset; three wonderful grandchildren, Lindsay Dickerson of New York City, Joshua Dickerson and Evan Dickerson (fiance Jolene Burns) of Jackson Fl.   He was predeceased by his daughter, Beverly Ann Nilsson (January 1, 1960) and five sisters.

Viewing will be held from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, November 21 at the Somerville Funeral Home, 10 West End Ave., Somerville, (908) 725-2079.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 22, starting with a viewing from 9-9:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Matthias Church, JFK Boulevard, Somerset.

Committal Service will be held at Franklin Memorial Park, Route 27 and Cozzens Lane, North Brunswick.
