Life Story: Sonya Panson, 90; 50-Year Township Resident

Sonya Panson, 90, passed away on January 14 in Somerset.

Mrs. Panson was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Edward and Lillian Tobias. She grew up in Brooklyn and in 1962, she relocated to Somerset, living there for more than 50 years.

Sonya graduated from James Madison High School and from Brooklyn College with a Bachelors of Arts. She was an accomplished sate licensed Realtor, having earned Million Dollar Sales Club. She worked for many years at Gloria Zastko in North Brunswick.

In her spare time, she was a member and president of the Women’s American ORT in Somerset. Sonya was an avid card player; she especially loved to play poker, canasta, pinochle and Mahjong. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and grandmother.

Mrs. Panson is predeceased by her husband, Fred Panson.

She is survived by her children: Ellen Gaynor, Edward Lowenhar and his wife Sandra, Valerie Miliotis and her husband Ares; by her 4 grandchildren, Matthew, Miranda, Sam and Lilli.

The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. January 16 at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge. Arrangements are by the Gleason Funeral Home.
