Life Story: Seymour Furman, 98; U.S. Army Veteran

Seymour Furman passed away on Monday April 30, 2018 at his home in Somerset. He was 98 years of age.

Mr. Furman was born in Brooklyn and lived for many years in Westchester County, NY prior to moving to Somerset in 2008.

He served our country faithfully in the United States Army, specializing in cartography. He was a graduate of NYU and was the owner of a Goodyear Tire dealership in Mount Vernon for many years. Mr. Furman enjoyed traveling and frequently would go to Europe, and Scottsdale, AZ.

He was pre-deceased by his wife Pearl Furman in 2008. He was also predeceased by his brothers Melvin and Norman Furman .

Mr. Furman is survived by his daughters Ellen Lisi of Vineland, Jo-ann Gagliardo of Somerset and Robin Silverman of Georgia. He is also survived by five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will take place at Sharon Gardens Cemetery in Valhalla NY at 1 p.m. May 2. The family will receive friends and relatives for shiva Wednesday evening and on Thursday and Friday at Mr. Furman’s home.
