Life Story: Patricia A. Doherty, 80, Former Township Resident

Patricia A. Doherty passed away Dec. 25 at her home in New Brunswick. She was 80 years old.

Born and raised in Queens, N.Y., Patricia moved to Somerset in 1968 and New Brunswick in 1991. For more than 20 years, Mrs. Doherty was proud to serve as the Tower Receptionist at Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Matthias R.C. Church in Somerset. An avid reader, she loved to follow and discuss current events, and cherished time spent with her family and friends.

Mrs. Doherty was predeceased by her mother, Hazel Doherty.

She is survived by her children: Sean Doherty of Hudson, Ohio, Mark Doherty and wife Wendy of Calistoga, Ca., Mary Kate Doherty of Bedminster, Tim Doherty and wife Karen of Somerset, and Meg DeFilippis and husband Matt of Somerset; and by her grandchildren: Colleen and Kaitrin Doherty and Matthew and Molly DeFilippis; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at the Gleason Funeral Home 1360 Hamilton St. Somerset, NJ 08873. The funeral mass will begin at 10:30 am Friday at St. Matthias Church 168 JFK Blvd in Somerset.
