Life Story: Nicandro ‘Nick’ Ventura, 66; Longtime St. Matthias Parishioner

Nicandro “Nick” Ventura passed away at his home in Somerset on July 9 at the age of 66. Nick is survived by his loving wife Menchie of 41 years.

Nick is lovingly remembered by his wife Menchie; his daughter Kathleen and her husband Mannix; his sons Victor and his wife Tricia, Jacques and his wife Christine, and John Paul; his brothers Mario, Alfredo, Fernando, Apollo, Roger, Danilo, Boyet, and Rodolfo; his sister Nene; his grandchildren, Jacques Dean, Anthony, Andrew, Liam, Lucas, Agnes and Priscilla; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Nick was born in the Philippines on November 6, 1950 to Emiliano and Felicidad Ventura. He studied at the Philippine College of Commerce where he earned a scholarship for playing basketball and track and field. He worked for DCI North Brunswick as a Dialysis Tech and for JFK Medical Center for Environmental Services. He was a long time parishioner at St. Matthias Church in Somerset.

Nick enjoyed landscaping and gardening, fishing, golf, and spending time with grandchildren.

The visitation will be held at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., on Tuesday from 12-4 P.M. and on Wednesday from 5-9 PM

The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Matthias Church in Somerset. Entombment will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in New Brunswick.
