Life Story: Grace Povolo, 95; Longtime St. Matthias Parishioner

Grace Povolo passed away on Nov. 22 at the Brakely Park Care Center in Philipsburg. She was 95 years old.

Mrs. Povolo was born in New York City and lived in New Brunswick before residing for many years in Somerset. She was a longtime parishioner of St. Matthias Church in Somerset.

Mrs. Povolo was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Povolo in 2015 and her son Lino Povolo in 2014 . She is also predeceased by her six brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her daughter Linda Smaligo and her husband Donald of Bridgewater. She is also survived by her grandchildren Delinda, Lisa, Loretta, Maria and great grandchildren Derek, Carlie, Brandon and Eric and her many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will begin 10 a.m. Nov. 27 at the Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St. Committal services will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in New Brunswick. Visiting will be held from 5-8  p.m. on Nov. 26.
