Life Story: Elizabeth Buttler, 96; Longtime Township Resident

Elizabeth M. Buttler, 96, passed away on April 05 at Regency Heritage Care Center in Somerset.

Mrs. Buttler was born April 28, 1920 in New Brunswick, the daughter of Robert and Mary (Spille) Gold. In 1953, she settled in Somerset with her family.

Elizabeth was a clothing buyer for Roselle’s and Snelenbergs in New Brunswick, where she worked for many years. She was a long time parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church in Hillsborough. Elizabeth was a member of the Franklin Township Seniors Club and Swingin’ Singing Seniors. She loved to knit and crochet and was a wonderful cook and baker.

Mrs. Buttler was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Buttler; her son, William Buttler; her brothers, Richard, John and Robert Gold and her sisters, Margaret and Mary.

She is survived by her daughter, Judith Buttler of the Ocean Grove section of Neptune; her daughter-in -aw, Laurie Buttler of Annandale; her brother, Bernard Gold and his wife Helen; her grandchildren, Traci Wood, William J. Buttler, Michael Buttler and Patrick Buttler; her great grandchildren, Jacob, Katelyn, Ryan and Zachary and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit at Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton St., from 2-6 p.m. April 9.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. April 10 at St. Joseph’s Church in Hillsborough. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in New Brunswick.
