Life Story: Diana Badia, 92; Expert Seamstress
Diana Badia, 92, a long-time resident of the Somerset area, passed away September 18 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Brunswick, with her family by her side.
Born Diana Falcone in 1927 in Foggia, Italy as one of four children to Carmela Falcone, Diana immigrated to the United States in the early 1950s and lived at her aunt’s home, eventually purchasing the home in 1955 when her aunt retired to Florida.
Diana worked for many years for Bond Clothing Company in New Brunswick as an expert seamstress. In 1955, she married Alessandro Badia, who was predeceased in 1997. Diana then left her job to raise a family, continuing to live in the family home up to her last days.
Diana loved to dance and was an active community participant at the Franklin Township Senior Center. Diana also was a fantastic cook and although she stood 4’ 9” tall, she had a giant sense of humor and always greeted everyone with a smile.
Diana is predeceased by her four siblings and her son- in- law, Joseph DeGeorge, husband to Margaret DeGeorge.
She is survived by her four children, Margaret DeGeorge, Alex Badia, Albert Badia, each of Somerset, NJ respectively, and Prudy Ballai and her husband, David who reside in eastern Pennsylvania.
