July 6 – “Pillow Talk: Design and Paint Accent Pillows” with Karen Haake, Local Artist, 10:30 a.m. (Participants will use acrylic paints to embellish pillows, both of which will be provided FREE).
July 7 – “The Mural of the Story: Phase 2 of Quail Brook’s Art Project” by Emily Russoniello, Local Artist and Villagers Theatre Supporter, 10:30 a.m. (Emily will engage participants to create a mural representing beautiful depictions of individual passions, talents and countries of origin).
July 7, 14, 21 & 28 – Quail Brook’s Continuing Art Institute with Karen Haake, Local Artist, 1:00-3:00 pm
July 8 – “Substitute Smarts: Lecture, Demonstration & Tasting” by Zaira Ahmed, Registered Dietitian, Willow Creek Rehabilitation Center, 10:30 a.m. (Zaira will teach about food substitutes and being budget conscious).
July 9, 16, 21, 31 – “Take Control of Your Health: Chronic Disease Self-Management” by Caitlin Witucki, MS, Health Promotion Specialist, Somerset County Office on Aging & Disability Services, 10:30 a.m. (This Chronic Disease Self-Management Program is a 6 part highly interactive workshop designed to give people with chronic conditions, such as arthritis, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, asthma, etc., and/or their caregivers the knowledge and the skills needed to take a more active role in their health care.  Participants gain confidence and motivation to manage their health and feel more positive about life.  The program is supported, in part by grant number 90CS0042-02-00 from the U.S. Administration for Community Living, Department of Health and Human Services, Washington D.C., 20201.  Grantees undertaking projects under government sponsorship are encouraged to express freely their findings and conclusions.  Points of view or opinion do not, therefore, necessarily represent official Administration for Community Living policy). Parts 5 and 6 will be held on August 6 and 13.
July 13 – Summer Scrapbooking Workshop with Tina Rear, Scrap U, 10:30 a.m. (If you want to take a class on the art of scrapbooking, then this is the class for you.  Each week, participants will create a new custom layout based on a different theme.  Techniques will include ways to texturize the scrapbook with inks, decorative punches and embellishments.
July 14 – “The Mind, Body & Spirit Connection: Movement, Exercise & Cognitive Health” by Dr. Rashmi Srinivas, Summit Medical Group, Bridgewater Family Medicine, 10:30 a.m.
July 14 & 16 – “AARP Smart Driver Course” 1:00-4:00 pm (This is a classroom driver-improvement course that will teach motorists about new traffic laws and defensive driving techniques.  You will receive 2 points off your license and 5% of your insurance for three years.  The fee for AARP members is $15.00 and $20.00 for non-members).
July 15 – “Go Green: An Environmental Initiative on Energy Conservation, Recycling, What is Upcycling & our Carbon Footprint”.  By Walter Andrews, Chairman, TPL Green Committee, 10:30 a.m.
July 17 – “Expressive Connections: Poetry & Readings” by Karen Haake, Local Artist, 10:30-11:15 am (Put yourself in the footsteps of an individual who overcame a life changing illness yet through words of beauty found courage, inspiration and heart to live their lives to the fullest).
July 21 – “Armchair Travel to Eastern Europe” by Dorothy & Irwin Vogel, 10:30 a.m. (Take a virtual tour of Eastern European countries compliments of local residents Dorothy and Irwin Vogel). Please call for confirmation.
July 22 – “Hot Summer Days: Fire Protection, Prevention & Heat Stress Help” by Erik Michelsen, Franklin Township Fire Department
July 23 – “Ancient Egypt” by the Morris Museum, 10:30 a.m. (This is a program that will offer an interactive learning experience using museum artifacts, reproductions and exhibits.  You will discover the significance of scarabs, bulls, lions and cats in the lives of ancient Egyptians, get up close and personal with Egyptian Gods through examining everyday objects and be able to observe the mummy-making process by which the human body was preserved in order to enjoy life after death).
July 24 – “10 Commandments of Communicating with People with Disabilities” by Paulann Pierson, Disabilities Coordinator, Somerset County Office on Aging & Disability Services, 10:30 a.m. (Have you ever been at a loss for words or felt a little awkward when communicating with someone with a disability?  This DVD uses humorous vignettes to deliver its disability awareness message.  Each commandment addresses specific issues that may arise when communicating or working with people with different kinds of disabilities and offers suggestions on the best way to achieve a positive encounter.  Also, meet the new Disabilities Coordinator!)

July 28 – “Heat & Mental Acuity” by Snehal Davda, PT, DPT, Kessler Rehabilitation Center, 10:30 a.m.
July 29 – “Living Longer, Better & Beautifully” by Cynthia Voorhees, RN, Eldercare Administrator, Somerset County Office on Aging & Disability Services, 10:30 a.m.
