In Your Opinion: Vote For Kramer For Responsible Spending

By William Galtieri, Somerset.

When Chris Kelly ran in 2007 his message was clear that the only way to control taxes is to control spending. Now as acting mayor, he has reversed that opinion doing the complete opposite. He has voted to spend more of taxpayers’ money, wanting to spend more than anyone else on the Township Council but not offering a way to pay for it. He even voted against this year’s budget, which would pay for the increased spending he solely wanted.

Just six months after Chris Kelly voted against paying for the increased spending he was in favor of and fought for, he is making robocalls with a misleading message. He is spreading a message that his spending plan would be successful, but is not offering how he would pay for the expenses. Chris Kelly’s plan is irresponsible and will lead the town toward bankruptcy, the same direction it was heading in 2008.

Phil Kramer on the other hand has worked with all of the council to reduce spending and pay for it at the same time. This year’s town budget is less than it was in 2009. He has worked to maintain services and pay for it at the same time, ensuring the town is fiscally solvent for the future.

Chris Kelly has clearly shown he cannot take care of the present and plan for the future as well. A vote for Phil Kramer for Mayor on Tuesday, November 3rd is a vote for responsible spending and planning.
