Horizon Healthy Plate Concession Stand Opens For 2016

horizonwebBridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots, and the team’s concessionaire Centerplate, have once again teamed up with Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey to offer fans a nutritious twist to traditional ballpark food with the Healthy Plate Concession Stand.

 

Now in its third season, the Horizon Healthy Plate Concession Stand returns to TD Bank Ballpark with a healthy spin on food favorites that allow fans to feast guilt-free on ballpark fare.

 

The Horizon Healthy Plate Concession Stand menu was designed by certified nutritionists. The menu includes popular heart-healthy dining choices, such as a low-fat turkey burger, a low-fat, low-sodium grilled chicken sandwich and a garden salad. The menu also regularly features JERSEY FRESH menu items made from produce grown in the Garden State. Each affordably-priced item includes calorie count and other nutritional information.

The ribbon cutting to officially open the Healthy Plate Concession Stand for the 2016 season took place on the morning of Opening Day: Thursday, April 21st. Representatives from Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey included Lepre, Executive Director of the Horizon Foundation Jon Pearson and Corporate Sponsorship Manager Karina Jimenez Belen. They were joined by Somerset Patriots Chairman Steve Kalafer and President/General Manager Patrick McVerry. The Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders were represented by Director Patricia Walsh, Deputy Director Peter Palmer, Brian Levine and Patrick Scaglione. General Manager Mike McDermott represented Centerplate at the event.

 

“This is a great collaboration that gives our fans healthy options at the ballpark. We have a lot of variety for fans to enjoy when coming out to a game. Sometimes you realize that you want something a little healthier. The Horizon Healthy Plate Concession Stand helps provide our fans and their families with that option,” said McVerry.
