Hamilton Street Advisory Board To Seek Graffiti Ordinance Change

The Hamilton Street Advisory Board will ask the Township Council to reduce the compliance time of its graffiti ordinance.

The Hamilton Street Advisory Board will ask the Township Council for a modification to the township’s anti-graffiti ordinance.

Board members decided at their April 3 meeting to make a suggestion that the ordinance’s compliance time be shortened from 90 days to 30 days.

The request originated with the FTPD’s community police team members, who said a shorter time frame would help with compliance.

Board chairman Tim Kelly originally suggested the time frame be reduced to 10 days, but other board members thought that was too short.

“Ten days is too soon,” member Geneva Hall said. “It would seem kind of rough to go to 10 days from 3 months.”

She suggested 30 days, a period with which other members agreed.

“Thirty days seems to be reasonable,” board member Pat Gianotto Jr. said. “People can get a power washer” and clean their buildings in that time frame.

Board executive director Vince Dominach said he would send a memo with the suggestion to the council.

The ordinance dates back to 2006.
