The Franklin Township Pop Warner Mitey Mites have their sights set on Disney World and bringing home a national championship.

The team, comprised of boys aged 7 to 9 years, defeated Brick City 8 to 6 on Nov. 9 to win the Central Jersey Division 2 championship in Roselle.

The teams played to a scoreless tie until the fourth quarter, when Cole Shannon ran for a 50-yard touchdown, then capped the effort by kicking the extra point.

Brick City responded on the next play with a touchdown, but their extra point effort failed. Franklin held onto the ball until time expired to cement the win.

The team is now raising money of the trip to the Pop Warner Super Bowl in Florida, set for Dec. 5 to 7.
