Four Somerset Patriots Named Atlantic League All-Stars

AllStarWebBridgewater, NJ- The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball has named four Somerset Patriots as All-Stars to represent the Liberty Division in the 2016 Atlantic League All-Star Game. The event will be held at Clipper Magazine Stadium, the home of the Lancaster Barnstormers, on Wednesday, July 13th.

 

Outfielder Aharon Eggleston, infielder Bryan LaHair, and relief pitchers Brandon Sisk and Mike Thomas have received the All-Star nod.

 

This is Eggleston’s third All-Star selection in his fourth season in Somerset. One of the reigning “Outfielders of the Year,” Eggleston ended the first half with a .309 batting average, 68 hits, 35 runs scored and 23 RBI in 54 games played.

 

LaHair hit .260 with 57 hits, 13 doubles, six home runs and 37 RBI in 58 games played. The 2012 Major League All-Star with the Chicago Cubs makes his Atlantic League All-Star debut in his first season with the Somerset Patriots.

 

Sisk posted a 1.60 ERA and 31 strikeouts over 26 innings in 26 appearances in the first half of the season.

 

Thomas was 3-1 with a 1.71 and 27 strikeouts in 26.1 innings pitched for the half.

 

The four Patriots representatives will join their manager Brett Jodie and coaches Glen Barker (Hitting/3B Coach), Cory Domel (Pitching Coach), and Fox Beyer (Bench Coach) for the Liberty Division.

 

Both squads will feature 22 Atlantic League players, including 13 position players and nine pitchers. Position players were chosen by league officials, coaching staffs and media voting, while pitchers were selected by the All-Star Game managers. Representatives from all eight teams in the league are featured on the All-Star Game rosters.

 

Gates for the All-Star Game and Farm Show at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, Pa., will open at 5:00 p.m. A pre-game Home Run Derby featuring many of the league’s top sluggers will begin at 5:30, with Inaugural Farm Show following at 6:00.
