FHS Vice Principal Margolin Named New District Athletic Director

5-26-16 Meeting - 22

Ken Margolin was named the new district athletic director at the school board’s May 26 meeting.

A 15-year district veteran has been named its new director of athletics.

Ken Margolin, who for the past year has been the Franklin High School vice principal, was unanimously named to the post by the Board of Education at its May 26 meeting.

Margolin has also served as the school’s dean of students and for 10 years was employed in the New York City school system as a health and physical education teacher, coach and dean of students.

Margolin said he plans to be very active in all of the district’s schools, although his focus will be on the middle and high schools.

One of the thing she will be stressing, Margolin said, is “strong academics for athletes.”

“I will remind them that they (the athletes) are the leaders in the building” and must perform at a higher standard, he said.

Margolin said he is also “going to focus on the younger students we have in the district, the 1st and 2nd Graders. I’m going to find out what the want (in athletic programs) and then offer them amazing programs and marry it to academics, and that will keep them in our district and in our schools.”

“We want to make kids in other townships wand to come to Franklin for academics and athletics,” he said. “It’s a huge challenge, but I’m excited about it.”
