FHS Sports: Lady Warriors Repeat As Section Champions With Victory Over Piscataway

vs. Rutgers Prep22

Adreanna Miller, seen here in action earlier this season, led all scorers in the Lady Warriors’ sectional championship win over Piscataway.

The Franklin High School Lady Warriors repeated as the NJSIAA Section 2, Group 4 champions March 10 with a 79-43 victory over Piscataway High School.

Three Warriors broke double digits in the win – Adreana Miller with 24 points, Jaeda Wildgoose with 16 points and Mary Trossi with 12 points.

The game’s end was marred by a brief altercation between Piscataway’s Kelsey Nugent and Franklin’s Tyler Drew, but the situation was brought under control quickly.

With the win, Franklin advances to the group semifinals March 12 against East Orange in Union.

Miller, who led all scorers, said she knew her team would win “when we were up by 20 points at halftime.”

“We played great as a team,” she said. “We were unstoppable defensively and offensively.”

“It was a great experience, I love games like that,” she said. “They came hard at us from the get, so we fed off that.”

“It was a great game to be involved in,” coach Audrey Taylor said. “The girls just dominated on both sides of the court.”

Taylor said she felt her team had the win in about the second quarter, “when Adreana started to take over. Between Adreana and Jaeda, we were just knocking shots down. It was a good position to be in.”

Taylor said the game against East Orange – who the Lady Warriors defeated last year for the sectional championship – “is going to be a battle.”
