‘Empty Bowls’ Fundraising Event Sets Sights On Food Insecurity

Organizers of the upcoming “Empty Bowls Franklin Township” fundraiser have high hopes for their inaugural event.

The founding executive team members – Susan Winston Seamon and Bob and Ceil Cheril – say they wanted to do something to help ease the concerns of people with foo insecurity.

The fundraiser is set for 1-5 p.m. March 10 at the DoubleTree Hotel on Atrium Drive. Proceeds from the event, which is a food tasting, will go to the Franklin Food Bank.

Participants will pick a hand-made pottery bowl, then sample food from a variety of local restaurants, such as Eno Terra in Kingston and the Rocky Hill Inn. The bowls are made by local artisans.

Seamon, the event’s chief potter, said she got involved in the project because, “I was looking for a way to combine my love of ceramics with helping others in need.  When I learned about Empty Bowls events, I realized it could be the conduit for my energy and joy while also helping so many people in need within the community.”
