A township resident is organizing a charity event designed to donate dolls to women and children in shelters in Somerset and Middlesex counties.

LaQuina Fladger created the event, “Q’s Dolls for Daughters,” as a “young empowerment event,” she said in an email. “Dreams do come true and young girls should be reminded to believe in yourself.”

The event is scheduled from 2-6 p.m. Dec. 3 at Holmes Marshall Fire Co., 5300 Deborah Dr., Piscataway.

Fladger is currently seeking donations of dolls. She hopes to gather 50 dolls, which will be donated to the Resource Center of Somerset, FISH Hospitality of Piscataway and Women’s Aware of New Brunswick.

The event will include speakers, entertainment, visual arts displays, vendors and more, she said.

A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will also be donated to Empower Somerset of Somerville and the Catholic Charities Diocese of Metuchen.

The event’s host will be Lawrence “Ben” Miles of the New York Women’s Chamber of Commerce.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door, and may be purchased by emailing dream2015fashio@gmail.com or by visiting the event’s web site at www.qsdolls4daughters.weebly.com.

Dolls can also be donated by contacting the email address.
