Colonial Park Tennis Courts to Open April 1

The tennis courts at the Colonial Park Tennis Center on Mettlers Road will open for the season on Saturday, April 1.

Courts at the Green Knoll Tennis Center in Bridgewater will also open on April 1.

The 18 courts at Green Knoll and Colonial Park will be open for reserved and open play with a full schedule of tournaments for all ages and abilities. Green Knoll will be open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Advance reservations may be made by calling (908) 722-1303.

There is no charge for use of the walk-on courts at Colonial Park, except for permitted league play. The facility is fully accessible to persons with physical disabilities.

Open play is available dependent upon availability. Rates are $8 per court hour until 5 p.m. on weekdays and $10 per court hour after 5 p.m. Weekends are $10 per court hour all day. The courts at Colonial Park are available for walk-on play at no charges during daylight hours, seven days a week and are fully accessible to persons with a physical disability

Tennis instruction is offered for players of all abilities. One week lessons are conducted for children, ages 5 and older. Adult lessons are offered in the evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and run for five weeks one night a week depending upon ability level. Lessons are offered for beginners through intermediate/ advanced players. Lessons include drill work, play action drills, challenge court time, and tournaments. Youth lessons on Monday, June 26. Adult lessons begin on Monday, July 10.

The cost for both children and adult lessons is $70 per session. Registration forms are available at Green Knoll Tennis Center and Colonial Park Tennis Center, or by calling Somerset County Park Commission at (908) 722-1200. Individuals with hearing impairments may use the Relay Service at 711. Registration is available online at www.somersetcounty parks.org.
