Thousands of families applied for enrollment for the 2018-19 school year at Central Jersey College Prep Charter School.

Families attended open houses to receive more information and meet with CJCP staff. The open houses were hosted on different days and times of the week in an effort to accommodate the varying working schedules of community members.

CJCP’s leadership team including Dr. Namik Sercan, Tasha Mosconi, and Suzan Dincer presented and addressed the inquiries from parents following the presentations. CJCP’s teachers were also present to meet and greet the prospective parents and students. Open houses, including CJCP Information Sessions in New Brunswick, received tremendous attention from the community. Information Sessions in New Brunswick were held in both Spanish and English.

“I recently applied to CJCP for my two daughters going into kindergarten and second grade in the fall. I also attended the open house hosted in New Brunswick.  It was an extremely informative session and the administration and staff were very informative. The academic curriculum is very impressive. The faculty did a great job at making us feel welcome as parents and were patiently answering all our many questions” stated a parent, Yvonne Lajide.

Chief Education Officer, Dr. Sercan said, “The turn out for every open house was impressive and the demand from the community was encouraging. We have received 1,575 applications.” Sercan also said he believed the reason the school has seen such an increase in applications is “the quality of education that students and families would be receiving at CJCP.”

Since the applications exceeded the capacity, according to NJ state charter school law, CJCP will draw a random lottery to select the students to enroll. The lottery will take place on Thursday, March 15, 2018, in the school auditorium at 6 pm. It is an open public event, so everyone is welcomed to attend. The lottery will be for grades and quantities as indicated below:

  • Kindergarten: 96 students
  • Grade 1: 24 students
  • Grade 2: 24 students
  • Grade 6: 96 students
