Friends and supporters of the Center for Great Expectations on Dellwood Lane gathered April 8 for the dedication of the expansion of its adolescent center.

The Center provides housing and treatment programs for trauma, abuse, homelessness and addiction for adult and adolescent women and their children.

The April 8 event was to dedicate a 3,500-square-foot addition to the Center’s adolescent unit and Katy’s Place, the CGE’s child care center.

After one of the Center’s residents told her story of overcoming her mother’s drug addiction and father’s alcoholism, only to fall into drug use herself, Center president and CEO Peg Wright told those assembled that “this is why we’re here.”

“We’re here to honor the incredible courage that these residents have when they walk through these doors,” she said.

Wright lauded her staff, saying, “everyone goes the extra mile all the time.”
