One of two brothers who admitted to the 2013 murder in the township of an aspiring rap artist was recently denied parole.

Antwan Cromedy, 32, was denied parole as of Jan. 3, according to a notification from the state Division of Criminal Justice.

Cromedy, of Bound Brook, and his brother Zaire, 25, of New Brunswick, pled guilty in January 2017 to charges connected with the shooting death of New Brunswick resident Eric Andrews, Jr., 28, in a Somerset hair salon on Dec. 29, 2013.

Andrews, an aspiring rapper who performed under the name “E-9,” was shot in the Nu Trendz Hair Salon on Somerset Street after he had a fight over a dice game with Antwan Cromedy, authorities said. Authorities said that Antwan initially pulled a knife on Andrews, then gave a handgun to Zaire Cromedy and told him to shoot  Andrews, which he did.

Police responding to a 9-1-1 call found Andrews lying in the salon. He later died after being transported to a local hospital.

Hundreds attended Andrews’ funeral at the first Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, not far from where Andrews was killed.

The Cromedy brothers accepted plea deals in January 2017 during the jury selection portion of their third trial on murder and weapons charges. The first two trials ended in mistrials.

Antwan Cromedy pled guilty to 2nd Degree Reckless Manslaughter and 2nd Degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, referring to the knife. He was given a sentence of five years in prison, and had to serve 85 percent of term before being considered for parole.

Antwan Cromedy is serving his sentence in Bayside State Prison in Leesburg.

Zaire Cromedy, who is serving his sentence in the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility in Burlington County, pled guilty to 2nd Degree Manslaughter and 2nd Degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, referring to the gun. He was sentenced to six years in prison, also with the 85 percent served before parole consideration stipulation.

Both men initially faced charges of 1st Degree Murder and weapons possession violation.
